There are loads of ways you can be involved, either on or off skates. We’re looking for women, aged over 18, to come and join the team, or if you’re a guy or you don’t fancy being part of the pack, you can learn how to be a referee. If skating’s not your thing, but hanging out with awesome rollergirls is, you can still help out at training and bouts by being an NSO. We’re also interested in hearing from people and local businesses who’d like to be involved by sponsoring us, hosting events and all sorts of other cool stuff!

No experience is necessary – you don’t need to know the rules of the game, how to skate, or even be in great shape. We can loan you protective kit and hire you skates for the first few weeks until you’re ready to invest in your own. We’d love to teach you how to skate – even if you’ve never skated before – and how to play the game. Your skating, stamina and general fitness will soon improve!

When you come along, you’ll need: ( * = things we should be able to lend you)

• Quad rollerskates (*)
• Helmet (*)
• Knee pads and elbow pads (*) (aggressive/vert-style, you’ll be falling on them alot!)
• Wrist guards (*)
• Cash
• Something to drink (skating is thirsty work!)
• Comfortable clothes – shorts/leggings rather than jeans (awesome socks optional!)

Your first night is free! If you decide to continue training with us (and we hope you will!), sessions cost £5 a night, with additional fees for skate hire/kit hire.

Bring on the End of the World Series!

Six local roller derby leagues have joined forces to end the world like we mean it! Seven bout days throughout 2012 will give us a chance to try our might and test our skill.

Each world-ending double header will be hosted by one of the six tournament leagues. The final bout day will be a thwomping triple header, with all six leagues fighting for first place at the End of the World.

MKRD hosted the first event, Foul Portents, to a sell out crowd at Bletchley Leisure Centre on Saturday 4th Feb, where Rebellion Roller Derby beat Vendetta Vixens 284 – 8 in the first bout, and the Milton Keynes Concrete Cows won against Oxford 171-77. 

The next one is at the Bunyan Centre in Bedford on Sunday April 1st, where MK will be playing the Vendetta Vixens and Rebellion will face off against the Hells Belles from Hertfordshire in the headline bout. Further details available from Rebellion’s website.
